Foster Care Review Confirms The Sector Is Still Failing Children.

Researching Reform

A review of the state of foster care in England has just been published. Whilst the report tries very hard to paint a rosy picture of the fostering sector, the data remains virtually unchanged since experts began analysing the way children fare inside the system. The recommendations look mostly at financial issues for foster carers, their status and the suggestion that Independent Reviewing Officers may be dispensable, in a bid to place more funds on the front line.

It’s really all about the money, with a nod here and there to the traumatised and vulnerable children who seem to be cheated out of just about everything.

That the core data about the fostering sector remains almost completely unchanged, or shows no signs of significant improvement in outcomes for children, makes the rhetoric inside the report largely irrelevant. Much of the report’s contents have been noted in previous reports and research…

Kelly’s comments a reminder that we give no quarter on racism

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly shakes hands with the Racist in Chief.

To Gen. John Kelly we owe one debt of gratitude: Kelly, chief of staff to the president of the United States, is proof that when assessing Trumpers and Trumpism, there are no degrees of evil, and we do not grade on a curve.

Kelly suggested this week that some young immigrants eligible for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program are “too lazy to get off their asses” and apply. Although mainstream media rightly labeled the comment as “racist, discriminatory, ignorant and cruel,” his words are also a reminder that even those within Trump’s circle who have been called “honorable,” like Kelly, or “pitiable,” like First Lady Melania Trump, are in truth merely reprehensible.

I suppose it’s human nature to look for bright spots at a time when it’s so dark you can’t tell that you’ve…

US and Saudi Arabia arms significantly enhanced Isis’ military capabilities

Number of US and Saudi supplied weapons in Isis’ hands goes ‘far beyond those that would have been available through battle capture alone

An extensive field investigation into the origins of Isis’ weaponry in Syria and Iraq has found that weapons supplied by the US and Saudi Arabia to the Syrian opposition often ended up in the jihadis’ hands, enhancing the “quantity and quality” of their armaments.

While most weapons in Isis’ arsenal were captured from the Syrian and Iraqi armies, Conflict Armament Research (CAR)’s report, published on Thursday, found that the number of US and Saudi supplied weapons in Isis’ arsenal goes “far beyond those that would have been available through battle capture alone”.

“Iraq and Syria have seen Isis forces use large numbers of weapons, supplied by states such as Saudi Arabia and the United States, against the various international anti-Isis coalitions that the two states support,”…

Dr. Craig Childress: Attachment Based "Parental Alienation" (AB-PA)

The Petition to the APA asserts the right of targeted parents for professional competence in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of their children and families.

Article 3 of the Petition to the APA describes four domains of great concern regarding potential violations of the APA ethics code:

Standard 2.01 Boundaries of Competence
Standard 9.01 Bases for Assessment
Standard 3.04 Avoiding Harm
Standard 2.03 Maintaining Competence

I am a clinical psychologist.  If I become aware of ethical violations by colleagues, there are professional guidelines for me as a psychologist.

Standard 1.05 of the APA Ethics Code
Reporting Ethical Violations

If an apparent ethical violation has substantially harmed or is likely to substantially harm a person or organization and is not appropriate for informal resolution under Standard 1.04, Informal Resolution of Ethical Violations, or is not resolved properly in that fashion, psychologists take further action appropriate to the situation.

“…psychologists take further…

Fellowship of the Minds

Chelsea Handler

I recommend a hard pass of any woman that might enjoy an “urinary Bermuda triangle.”

From Fox News: Chelsea Handler is known for her inflammatory and often controversial tweets and her latest post did not disappoint. “In my effort to achieve some level of bipartisanship, my goal this year was to sleep with a Republican— voluntarily,” Handler tweeted on Tuesday. “It’s going to be tricky.”

The comedian has been focusing on political advocacy since her Netflix series “Chelsea” was cancelled last year.

She has made headlines lately for a series of offensive tweets including one about Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham. “Holy, f–k f–k. I just [saw] the video of trumps bipartisan ‘meeting’ yesterday,” Handler tweeted on Jan.10.

Hey, @LindseyGrahamSC what kind of d–k sucking video do they have on you for you 2 be acting like this? Wouldn’t coming out be more honorable?”

In September 2017, Handler…
