Becoming A Part Of It

Broken Light: A Photography Collective

Stuffs7

Photo taken by contributor Shelby Hall, a mother in her twenties from Dallas, Texas. Before her boys were born, she had a difficult relationship with her now fiancé, in part due to his struggles with drug addiction. Shelby suffered from depression through much of their early relationship as a result of being unable to cope. During that rough time in her life she found herself comforted and consoled by her photography. Shelby’s fiancé is now sober, and they are happy parents together. She loves having her photos to look back on. They read like a timeline and you can see the progressions and pitfalls through them all. They also serve as a reminder of how much stronger she and her fiancé are today.

About this photo: “Lately I have been consumed with how much my emotions can take control of me. They really become me. Because of that I have found…

German judge uses multiculturalism to acquit Muslim Turk of violent rape

Fellowship of the Minds

Germany is reaping the harvest of multiculturalism: moral relativism.

A female judge in Brandenburg, one of the 16 federated states of Germany, acquitted a Muslim man of raping a non-consenting woman for four hours, on the grounds that according to the defendant’s Turkish culture, it was not rape, but merely “wild sex”.

According to a Google Translation of Jürgen Lauterbach’s report, “Sex mit Gewalt, aber keine Vergewaltigung (Sex with violence, but no rape),” for the April 20, 2017 edition of the German-language Brandenburg daily newspaper Märkische Allgemeine,on the night of August 18, 2016, the victim — a young woman from the town of Plaue in central Germany — went to the 23-year-old defendant’s apartment in downtown Potsdam, the capital of Brandenburg, to buy drugs.

After the man and woman took the drug methamphetamine or speed, the defendant indicated he wanted to have sex with the woman. The…

Dear Jack: Your Specific Decision to Draw Us Both the Same Size, What It Symbolizes

Family Friendly Daddy Blog

6 years, 5 months.

Dear Jack,

You brought home a drawing last week from school that shows two boys who are the same size; one with brown hair and the other with darker hair.

After I saw the drawing, you explained, “Daddy, that’s you and me in the picture.”

Obviously, that make my heart smile.

The weekend before, you and I had went exploring together, making the most of the couple hours of it wasn’t raining on that Sunday afternoon. So I imagine how our recent quality time together might have had some influence on you choosing to draw a picture of the two of us.

Then I noticed something peculiar about the drawing: You drew us both the same size.

You’re a very good artist. You know detail. You knew that to make the drawing true to scale, that I should have been bigger than you.

This is something…

Post Foreword:

This post was basically written in full March 27, 2017, and sidelined while I continued researching things Anneberg and others you can see on the sidebar under “Recent Posts” and as shown in images near the top of the “Today’s Lesson … Annenberg Learner” (most recent) post.  (The drill-downs can occupy full attention for a long time while I’m processing the information also).

Looking to move forward with other writing, I quickly (less than one day) did some more interior decorating (added images and text) to the top part, standardized some formatting on the bottom, and posting it May 11, 2017.  I am still beginning to grasp (in “awe”) the scope of the combined intents to transform the entire public school system in an agreed-upon direction by certain networked entities, the cooperation of the US and other Departments of Education in the process (partly understandable – they’re…
