Parental Alienation

Birthdays are hard.  Not just mine, but theirs too.  Do I buy them a gift?  Do I write them a card? How much money do I spend? What kind of card do I write?  Can I not do that without coming across hostile? Or is it just worth it to make the gesture so I don’t have to deal with possible backlash from the rest of my family?

I can’t tell what to do anymore.  Extended family is becoming an issue.  It’s so hard talking to them without either feeling resentful that they didn’t have to go through the same sort of thing since everyone else has a different father, or sad because we’ll never be able to have the same kind of relationship since I no longer have a relationship with my parents.
