The Good Kind of Exhausted

The Return of the Modern Philosopher

running, fitness, employee wellness, losing weight, getting back into shape, humor, Modern PhilosopherHappy Writer’s Day, Modern Philosophers!

As many of you already know, Writer’s Day is the holiday I invented to celebrate the fact that I am a writer, even though I’m not yet able to support myself full time as a member of that profession.

Writer’s Day always falls the day after a taping of The Nite Show, when I’m both exhausted from working both jobs and on a writer’s high from being a part of making an awesome TV show.

If you haven’t already, I hope you will check out the post I wrote about last night’s historic Nite Show taping.

But do that after you finish this one, of course!

I’m extra exhausted today, Modern Philosophers, and it’s not just because I was up until past midnight last night.

Believe it or not, I’ve actually gotten back into my fitness routine.  The Man Who Hates Running is back running…

Authorities say Savilla Stoltzfus also lived with Kaplan for several years and was considered one of his wives.

Float Your Way to Space in a Balloon

Moss and Fog

balloon to space moss and fog

With a growing number of companies on the verge of sending private citizens into space on rockets, there’s a movement to send people to space on a….slower pace. World View Enterprises has plans (and a high tech balloon) to start sending people on commercial flights to the edge of space starting in 2018.  With a mission to give people a true “global perspective” on our planet, the experience sounds like the ride of a lifetime.  Check out this fascinating video on their mission to take people over 100,000 feet above Earth. Been a Vegan 4 Years Now and Nobody’s Impressed (How American Masculinity is Associated with Eating Red Meat and Pork)

Family Friendly Daddy Blog

No one will read this blog post. It will not show up at the top of anyone’s Facebook feed, like the way pictures of my adorable 11 month-old daughter do. Because ultimately, this blog is irrelevant to most people.

My dedication to the plant-based life is unanimously met with the sound of crickets chirping; especially since I have zero desire to try to convince anyone else they should become a vegan.

Our American culture subconsciously associates masculinity with eating meat: In particular, red meat and pork.

So for a man to deny himself of that form of protein… it isn’t considered noble, by most. Instead, it is met with confusion, at best.

To be exact, I haven’t consumed pork (which includes hot dogs, BBQ, and bacon) or shellfish (shrimp, scallops, lobster)…

20 Years Of Nite Show Fun

The Return of the Modern Philosopher

The Nite Show, Danny Cashman, writing for television, Maine, comedy, humor, Modern PhilosopherSorry that there’s been nothing new on the blog for the last few days, Modern Philosophers, but I was busy writing monologue jokes for tonight’s historic taping of The Nite Show with Danny Cashman.

Was the taping historic because this was the third consecutive one held on a day that it snowed?  Hardly.  This is Maine, after all, and it really never stops snowing.

No, tonight was historic because The Nite Show celebrated the 20th anniversary of its first telecast.  The show hasn’t been on for twenty years, but the first incarnation of The Nite Show aired twenty years ago this month.

What an amazing accomplishment for a local TV show that was conceived and produced by a college kid, who tonight admitted he had no idea what he was doing.

Luckily, twenty years later, Danny Cashman has become well versed in the art of producing a late night talk…
