Roy Wood : The Wizzard of Rock!

1973 to 2013  A Celebration!

I would like to pay tribute to one of our greatest musical talents 40 Roy Wood1years on from his most successful year!
In 1973 Roy Wood started the year with Ball Park Indecent, in April we saw the Number one hit See My Baby Jive followed by another in September with Angel Fingers and I was pleased to be aged 15 then, and by Christmas we saw I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday!
Whilst the Christmas song was kept off the top spot byWoodLynne
fellow Midlands band Slade but both are still as popular today as they were then! Roy Wood’s success in 1973 was enhanced further by his parallel solo career and the album Boulders . Curious as he played all but one instrument on Boulders when he was reputed to play 20+ instruments on the Wizzard hits too,  as well as the band members which included to drummers!
I have it on good authority that the Ivor Novella award winner and honorary Doctor of music is recuperating after a spinal operation and contemplating his future whilst resting  and I wish him well and thanks for 46 years of fabulous music !
